Apple sold 3 million iPads over the weekend
iPad fever continues unabated, it seems, as Apple has announced the iPad 4 and iPad Mini sold a combined 3 million iPad units over the weekend following their Friday launch. The company hasn’t broken down the specifics of how many units each model sold, however.
Apple notes that it sold only 1.5 million Wi-Fi only models during the launch of the iPad 3 earlier this year. Throw in the 4G iPad 3, however, and that number climbs to 3 million. Had 4G models of the iPad 4 and Mini been available over the weekend, it’s likely sales would have been higher.
While Apple hasn’t provide specific numbers for the iPad Mini, though CEO Tim Cook states that the device is “practically sold out.”
